Just an Update

Sat May 16, 2009, 3:36 PM
Hey Everyone,

I thought I would just chime in since it's been a million years or so and catch you up on goings on with me. I know I don't update very often but at least you guys are in my thoughts. ;o) There are just too many social network sites to keep up with but the good thing is that you guys get to see everything I put out in the world before everyone else so I guess that's a good thing. The truth is that I really enjoy your feedback and I use it to inflate my head before I start my day. Heh. No... seriously... you all have been more than great to me and I appreciate all comments you all my add to my DA port and I'm glad that there are so many people enjoying my work. Thank you soooo much! Now onward to a million pageviews. (Yeah, right.)

So what's been on the agenda for the past few months?

As some of you know I own a large art licensing company called Creative Image Licensing and Management (CILM). Basically, a large portion of my days I spend promoting and monitoring the digital usage of images of artists that are signed, or contracted, with us. I make sure that I negate illegal usage on various sites and that people that would like to use the images go through the legal steps to get this done through my company. Some of the great artists that you might be familiar with that we take care of are: Olivia [link] , Rion Vernon [link] , Dave Nestler [link] , Martin Abel [link] , Jennifer Janesko [link] , Lorenzo Sperlonga [link] , Mark Wasyl [link] , Joel Adams [link] , myself [link] , and many, Many, MANY others [link] . We've been around for over 3 years and everyday's a work in progress. The internet's a vast world with honest people and very dishonest people. My staff, which includes my wonderful wife, Michelle (She's actually the President of our corporation), and I do the very best we can everyday to make the internet world a much safer place to promote and sell their amazing work.

So the rest of everyday is a balance of a large family (My beautiful wife, 5 kids and lots-o-dogs), promotion, creativity and scheduling. I think that everyday I'm getting a lot better at it despite the fact that it's taken me this long in my life. I could probably use some help keeping my office clean (anyone want to volunteer? I'll pay you ;o).

At times I find it difficult to balance between business and creativity. It seems like every two seconds I'm starting another company. There's nothing like diversification in everything you do. To me, it's great being able to create but if you don't do anything with it, other than sanity, what's the purpose? I've found in my 20 years of professionally doing what I do that there are many people that can create like you wouldn't believe but they don't know the first thing about business and moving forward. One of my new companies is my diligent attempt at helping creatives establish some security through "art" business knowledge and development of their techniques. It's an affair of the heart in the fact that I taught classes for about 10 years up until about 4 years ago - including a brief stint with Airbrush Action Magazine. I loved it but I got tired of traveling. I'm feeling that itch once again but I'm working on a way to do it on a massive scale along with classroom efforts as well. It's also important that I gear my efforts to advanced artists as well intermediates and beginners.

I'm just a few months away from finishing up a new line of sexy pinup drumsticks that feature the Five Naked Models [link] and Emily Addison but as I work on this I've also filmed a couple of DVDs that will be available as soon as I can get the editing approved and tie it all together. On the first I created a pinup of Emily Addison and as a bonus I'm including some footage of a photo shoot we had together so that you can see how I put together reference to create the pieces I do. All of my work is created from my own reference which is something I adamantly encourage all artists to do.

In the past week I had a few shoots: Carlotta Champagne (for art reference) [link] , Isobel Wren (for art reference) [link] , and clearly your favorite, Emily Addison (10 hour shoot using every ounce of the studio) [link] . I've already posted pics of Carlotta from these shoots and you'll be seeing artwork of her soon along with Isobel. For Emily... you guys will see more artwork today sometime along with some brand spankin' new pics.

Also... today I'm zappin' the Guerra Fine Art site to make some room for photography. This has been buggin' me for months and it's about time I take care of this before I feel much worse about this. I've been real bad about updating my own website and even though I've hired Blue Squid Media [link] to take care of this a website is a creative process all it's own and one that no one's ever happy with. It seems like blog sites are all the rage now and after viewing quite a few lately I think this trend is really on to something. I really like Mark Wasyl's site: [link] not only because he's a buddy of mine but he's melded his style to everything you see that promotes him on the net. He's a classic example to follow in everything an artist should do with regards to promotion. Go to his site now and take a look!

So all of the above with much more drop in my lap everyday and when I have that last hour to kill before I go to bed to sleep for about 3 hours I play a little WarCraft with my wife and all my kids. It does a family right to slaughter Rabid Thistle Bears together. ;o) Makes for some great bonding and teamwork.

Again, thank you all so much for stopping by my DA page and keeping up with some of my newest work. I log in several times a day to view new work from you guys and enjoy some of the comments you have about my work. I couldn't be happier doing what I do and you guys make it real easy for me. I'll keep updating as often as I can.

Anthony Guerra

"Porno freak"? Porno's great but I'm far from that. Ask the models I've worked with.
