I'm very happy (a bit bittersweet) to announce that all Pinup Sticks completely SOLD OUT at the San Diego Comic Con. Not only did they sell out... they sold out in two days at the con. It was absolutely awesome to see the reception they got and also hear comments from people that were purchasing them at Olivia's booth. They're truly unique gifts for any drummers you might know. The initial shipment is what sold out and I'm a bit unsatisfied because the second big shipment doesn't arrive until after the show. Oh well... I'll know better next year and I'll be prepared with 10 times the amount of sticks we had this year plus soooo many more designs!
I think the most common question that's asked about them is about the printing on the sticks. Artist, especially, will practically pull out a magnifying glass to inspect the printing and see if it's a sticker stuck on the sticks. 8o) The printing on Pinup Sticks is NOT a sticker. I use a patented process to embellish these awesome sticks that is unmatched. Yes, other companies print on sticks but if you take your fingernail you can scrape their printing off. Not gonna happen with Pinup Sticks. Our sticks are meant to be played the hell out of and the durable, bright, high-resolution printing is meant to withstand abuse.
Another common question from artists and bands is whether or not we'll consider putting their artwork or logo on sticks. The answer's "yes" but you'll have to order a certain quantity to get this done plus an initial design fee is applied. If this is something you would like to have done for yourself or you know a drummer that would like to do it just have them contact me at anthony@pinupsticks.com
If you're in Southern California... Pinup Sticks along with me and Mark Wasyl will have a huge booth at the Southern California Ludikrs Show on August 15th, 2009. [link] . If you stop by and say "Anthony, you're my hero!" I'll give you a show discount. 8o) Just joking... just mention Deviant Art and that'll be good enough.
Hope to see some of you guys picking up some sticks sometime in the future!
Anthony

Hi Everyone,
For about 3 years now I've been working with some awesome people to help me get my new project and company called "Pinup Sticks" off the ground. I basically blended an idea with my buddy Johnny's (a spectacular engineer) expertise in building stuff to incorporate a patented printing process that would allow me to put pinup girls on drumsticks (no... not the kind you see after eating all the chicken ;o). There are quite a few products out there that could stand to use some spicing up and drumsticks for drummers are no exception.
Recently, I got busy painting some pinups (recently posted here in my gallery) to place on the drumsticks -and- I asked my friends Olivia De Berardinis [link] and Mark Wasyl [link] to create some designs as well to get this company started on the right foot. So what we have is the initial 12 sets of sticks which were launched just a couple of days ago. You can view those here: [link] and you can purchase them here: [link] .
I'm already working on more artists to come on board and the amount of different designs on sticks is going to grow rapidly. Right now there are 6 designs from me, 2 from Olivia and 1 from Mark (with 4 different variations). You have a choice of ordering the sticks in hand-selected maple or hickory. The difference in the two is simple:
- maple is more of a lighter, more blonde, collector stick for those that are interested in collecting the drumsticks. The maple lightness really spotlights the artwork and makes it pop off the stick. Maple sticks are very much playable and you can beat the hell out of them but you'll experience a slightly different sound from them due to the fact that they have a nylon tip (symbols are much more crisp or "tingy").
- Hickory sticks are a heavier weight, slightly darker stick that is meant to be played the hell out of. Hickory is for serious drummers out there that wanna play hard with something sexy in their hands. The wood has a slightly different pattern to it than the maple but still lends itself very well to the artwork. The difference is only slight when it comes to the artwork and hickory sticks have machined wood tips.
As for the printing on the sticks... you are not going to see a higher quality of printing on wood and rest assured that the printing is not going to come off in your hands. The artwork is meant to withstand a beating and last a long long LONG time.
So if you are a drummer or you know someone that is a drummer these are excellent gifts. Tell your friends about Pinup Sticks and take advantage of this first run of sticks. If you want to collect the sticks you can't get any more original than this. If you're a music store owner or you'd like to see the sticks in your local music store please mention us to your favorite store so that we can set them up with an account, display and some sticks for their store(s).
Enjoy! - and much more to come soon,
Anthony
PS. If you're going to be at the San Diego Comic Con next weekend you can see our sticks there. Here's some more information on that: [link]
